Equal access and inclusion. Two terms we hear a lot of today. But what do they really mean? Learn more and help us truly include and provide equal access for people who rely on ASL (American Sign Language) for communication!
It’s been a long road of advocacy, but with the Forward Foundation’s grants to beach facing municipalities to install beach access mats, that road has an end in sight! Tarpon Springs unanimously and happily authorized the acceptance of the grant during Tuesday evening’s Commission meeting. The most telling comment, “Why didn’t we think of this first?” indicates that advocacy for equal access for all persons, especially those living with disabilities, must robustly continue!
So, what happens next? The City already submitted their planned drawing to FWC for review and comment. Once the response is received, the mat will be ordered, and placed upon arrival! We look forward to a ribbon cutting to celebrate this wonderful advancement!
Continued thanks to the Forward Foundation and HelpUsGather.org #HelpUsGather for recognizing the need to include everyone on our area’s most precious resource, our sandy beaches!
We are thrilled with the attention given to provide equal access to our beautiful beaches!
Kudos to Planet Fitness for making your gyms accessible for all!
Help us advocate for beach access mat installation that will enable anyone with a mobility impairment to enjoy our world class beaches!
Now this is really cool!
